PROFILE

The need to produce plastic roller shutters from rigid PVC in Greece led civil engineers Pavlos Manakidis and Konstantinos Kokkonis to come together and establish TEHNOPLAST OE in 1964. Prior to that, timber shading systems were usually the norm in Greece. At that time, modern PVC roller shutter systems were mainly imported from Italy.

They chose Diavata, Thessaloniki, as the location for their premises, where they remain and have their headquarters to this day. The production of plastic cross-sections for roller shutters began in 1964, initially supported by imported raw materials from Italy and West Germany. The company’s initial product applications were implemented by contractors—a natural progression, given that the founders themselves came from a contracting background and understood the practical benefits of roller shutter solutions.

In 1970, after the company had grown and established itself as a leading Greek producer, it changed its legal structure and became a SA company. During this period, Pavlos Manakidis established a second enterprise. By 1972, TECHNOPLAST AEBE was being sourced with exclusively locally manufactured raw materials.

During its formative years, the company rapidly expanded its product line through the development of specialized cross-sections designed for both primary and secondary construction applications. Key product developments included: tongue-and-groove (T&G) wall/ceiling cladding systems, framing profiles, baseboard solutions, etc.

Investing in human capital

In the late 1990s, the company underwent a shareholder restructuring. Of the founders, only Pavlos Manakidis remained. In the years to come, the company would grow and expand beyond Greek borders.

In 2008 the company set up its own exclusive PVC compound production unit in Galarino, Chalkidiki. One year later, PVC product recycling was launched at the same site.

Dynamic Exports

Since 2010, TECHNOPLAST AEBE has pursued a deliberate internationalization strategy, systematically growing its export volumes while maintaining a strong domestic market share. A strategic milestone was achieved in 2017-2018 when export sales surpassed domestic market performance for the first time.

Looking into the future

In 2020, the company began planning the renewal of its industrial equipment and the modernization of its management systems.

Why choose Technoplast Roller Systems

Technoplast Roller System Maintenance

Maintaining Technoplast systems is easy and practical, thanks to the detachable guides (slides). These guides allow for quick and easy replacement during maintenance or repairs, without the need for complex disassembly procedures. Additionally, the installation of the channels can be done with special screws that have a plastic head, eliminating the need for screwing. If needed, replacement or maintenance of the channels can be easily performed after installation.

Premium Energy Efficiency

Technoplast roller shutter systems are certified by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki for their premium performance, featuring one of the lowest thermal transmittance coefficients in Europe, at just 0.609 W/(m² * K). This ensures superior energy efficiency by minimizing heat transfer and optimizing thermal insulation performance.
Additionally, Technoplast's manufacturing process is monitored by independent authorities under ISO management systems, guaranteeing both manufacturing quality and sustainable production practices – delivering premium, eco-conscious solutions.

Design Features

One of the innovative features of Technoplast's roller shutters is the special ribbing layer that prevents lines from forming between the surfaces, ensuring a uniform and aesthetically flawless appearance. The side joints (side panels) are precision-engineered to deliver a modern, minimalist aesthetic while reinforcing stability and safety during roller shutter transportation. The rib structure additionally blocks air infiltration, enhancing the energy efficiency of the roller shutters.

Material Traceability Systems

Technoplast utilizes modern traceability systems for all materials produced. Each product is assigned a production number, allowing full tracking of its manufacturing process and quality control from production to delivery. This system guarantees the transparency and reliability of the company's products.

Custom Solutions

Technoplast provides comprehensive system solutions tailored to diverse requirements, featuring application-specific cross-sectional designs for optimal performance. This means that manufacturers do not need to adjust the product during installation, as each roller shutter system is designed to meet specific needs, saving both time and money.

Construction Quality and Materials

Technoplast roller shutters are crafted from premium-grade Compound PVC, produced in-house to precise technical specifications. These materials are renowned for their exceptional durability and rigidity, while their built-in UV protection preserves both structural integrity and aesthetic appeal over extended periods. The rollers feature precision weight balancing, enhancing both installation ease and long-term operational efficiency.

Production in Greece and Research & Development

Technoplast products are manufactured entirely in Greece, with the contribution of the Research and Development (R&D) team. The R&D team ensures continuous product improvement, addressing current market needs and providing solutions that exceed expectations.
